If you discover a Wi-Fi hotspot with your laptop, you may want to know a few details about the wireless network first, before connecting. This is where Acrylic WiFi comes in. Besides discovering Wi-Fi access points around you, the application can also provide you with various details about each point, like connected devices, used security mechanism and even generic Wi-Fi passwords. Also, thanks to its intuitive design and controls, finding a network and retrieving its characteristics can be done without any effort.

The software comes in free and paid editions, for all modern Windows versions. You don't have to install any prerequisite tools or services, but the setup wizard will offer to install an additional feature to Acrylic WiFi. It takes less than a minute to complete the installation process, after which you can run the application right away, without sacrificing too many resources. The best part is that the program does not require any special hardware.

The user interface consists of several information panels, which can be accessed via navigation tabs. You can view a list of found access points, packets, GPS coordinates, inventory items and much more. Access points are listed together with their mac addresses, passwords, vendor names and many other details. Additional information, like signal strength or access point channels can be found on the same page, on separate tabs.

Acrylic WiFi's advantages don't stop here. The software can also find hidden networks and retrieve detailed information. Its built-in packet viewer works like WLAN sniffer, which can show you captured network packets. What's more, Acrylic WiFi is capable of integrating with Wireshark, which enables it to capture WLAN packets in Windows. Also, the software's support for the PCAP format makes it compatible with other tools, such as aircrack.

Pros

Acrylic WiFi can discover wireless access points and it can also retrieve a wide range of information. It can also find hidden networks. The application doesn't require special hardware and it is quite easy to use.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks to address. Finding wireless hotspots around is the least you can do with Acrylic WiFi's unique capabilities.
